Things you should see.

This is really cool. If Harper et al. did something like this, I might even be able to overlook unsuccessful attempts to meddle in our private lives (offer does not apply to successful attempts).

So is this, on a smaller scale. I'm not sure I can say much about government policy related to bananas, though.

Switching to fluorescent works better in hot countries than cold ones. In hot countries, the 90% energy that becomes heat has to be pumped out of the buildings with air conditioners, adding to the energy cost.

In Canada (at least in winter) the heat produced causes heaters to run at lower rates, thus saving back most of the energy lost. Still, if they could fix the migraine (and sometimes epilepsy) inducing beat frequencies from fluorescent bulbs, I would welcome the change.
