I think it was called the chef's special. But in my books, that's just the bad American mispronounciation of table d'hôte.
I actually ordered the "table d'hôte" when I realized we'd walked into a cultured, fancy restaurant, figuring it'd fly (and out of habit). But I guess that only works in Blue States.
