Got in some writing, some walking and some consulting yesterday... I'm holding off really diving into work until next week, but things are spinning up to speed. Today: UI, scanning, more report, then the Frontier end-of-year dinner. New routine with FC office hours and yoga and research office hours starts next week. Time to start waking up early again.
Consulting was for Emily Hermant's Lies Project, which was fun the first time 'round at Christmas, and whose upgrades should be fun this time 'round, too. Everything else is for my collectively held baby, the shape grammar stuff. It's a problem child sometimes, but I love it anyway.
I'm finally going to get my B.A. diploma framed, before something dumb happens to it.
One response on the call for interviews... five questions, people. Do your worst!
So,
femiwhat invited me into some kind of virtual living room, poured some ice water and interrogated me....
1. If you got stuck in the rain, would you rather that it be a slow, grey drizzle or a downpour?
I'd go for the slow, grey drizzle... rain you can almost breathe.
2. If you knew you were going to be arrested for a crime you hadn't committed but that there was a chance that they had some good circumstantial evidence, would you run?
Running might be good circumstantial evidence... so if I had my head on straight, I'd sit it out.
3. If you had magic powers (or mutant powers, or jedi powers; take your pick), would you keep them hidden from everyone but use them in secret, or try to become famous with your new abilities?
I'd try and be subtle, to keep a reserve of surprise for those tricky situations.
4. When you're feeling down about something, do you prefer to be around people who will bitch about life with you, or people who will try to give advice and lift you back up?
I used to be a bitch-fest kind of person, but more and more, a little brain-picking and a little support is nice.
5. If you were given 24 hours to find a bride, who would you try to persuade to marry you, and how would you do it? (Girlfriends doesn't count--she already hooked up with Tom Cruise.)
"Look, over there, Tom! Katie Holmes!"
There is a crush-ee from last year I might approach. And I guess I'd sit down with coffee, catch up a little and spring the question on bended knee. 24 hours, that's a timeframe where you've got to be a little direct.
I'm still not entirely clear how I relate to marriage, but that's how I'd approach it given those facts.

Someone interview me!
Re: Someone interview me!
Leave questions here, get answers posted by me.
Do similar stuff to
So, here are your questions:
1. What is the biggest new thing set to happen to you (that you can reasonably predict) this summer?
2. It magically becomes clear that you have one more move in life, then you stay living where you land until death or long-term care. When do you move, where to and why?
3. Why do you keep a livejournal — what's the major thing that keeps you posting?
4. How would you characterize your relationship with our parents?
5. Suddenly, you're the President of the World (like Kofi Annan, but with a real army and executive powers). What do you do about fundamentalism?
Re: Someone interview me!
Re: Someone interview me!
1. what drew you to physics?
2. what decided stuff for you about Japan?
3. describe your bed, including size, colours, made or not, stuffed animals, etc...
4. do you do any performing arts? which ones? if not, are you drawn to any?
5. name a book that is sitting unfinished somewhere but that you really want to get back to.
Re: Someone interview me!
2 Well getting the scholarship made the decision for me really. As for why I applied, I wanted to gain a greater understanding of a culture sufficiently unlike my own that I could gain a great deal from trying to grasp the different worldview and value system.
3 Bed is a standard western single with matress, a thin hemp bed cushion between the mattress and a standard bed sheet with a another bed sheet on top. The pillow is soba husk filled, so nice and firm, often refered to as the 'bag of rocks' by foreigners but I think they're wonderful. Usually unmade
4 I am not a performer, I do try to be an appreciative audience however, I feel that is the way I could best contribute to the arts.
5 I finish most books I start... I suppose the GEB, I stopped because it stopped being much good and was slow going, but I'd like to finish it just say I had.
