Saw _Lost in Translation_ last night: very nice film for a rainy night. Went home, programmed into the night, presented results and participated in planning this morning, now comes a little siesta, I think.
Find a rainy, horrible night, a sentimental friend or two (not sniffly, crying sentimental, just quietly sentimental until you leave the theatre a little wobbly) who lives in a different direction from the theatre than you do ... plan to have a little coffee and superficial banter beforehand, and walk home alone in the rain. This will be the optimal theatre-going experience for the film.
It's a well-crafted thing, understated leads in an overstated backdrop, nicely shot and very well acted... and the few big outdoors scenes will probably need to be a couple stories high to really work. See it in a theatre!
