Sunday, I did a little housecleaning in the vermicomposter. It's amazing how easy it is to chase worms into a little squirming ball with some sunlight and steal their compost. The ecosystem in there seems to be working great!

I'm feeling a little slow and drifty these days. I'm sure I'll be back at my usual required frantic productivity soon.

I lost a Scrabble game by one point to diatribein tonight.

I always wanted a composter for the back balcony -- you can get them from Éco-quartier -- but the problem is I'd have nowhere to use all that soil once it's created. Our narrow windows have space for about two, maybe three potted plants, and we definitely don't have a garden of ny kind.

I found a gardener who wants vermicompost for this load, and next time 'round we'll have tomatoes to feed. There are people whose eyes light up at the suggestion of a bag of home-made vermicompost. Eco-quartier even suggests sprinkling well-decomposed compost around trees or shrubs in the neighbourhood if you can't donate it to someone.

Yeah, I was just lulling you into a false sense of security by letting you lead the entire game, only to beat you on the final go. Let's hope we'll get a few more games in before you guys move out to Hull. We seem to be pretty evenly matched and I had a great time hanging out with the both of you. Thanks for giving me a call!

Do you think you might have enough worms to give c and i so that we might start our own little worm colony? maybe we could trade you something for some...? i'm so ansty and excited to get composting!

I could definitely set you two up with a starter bucket of worms. The best way to go is for me to give you a holler when I'm taking off another load of compost, and get you over here to learn basic worm-sorting and pick them up. That might be in a month or so, if you can wait.

that would be awesome to learn a bit from a veteran wormer... but a month is so long! boo. I think i might be able to get some from someone else in the meantime... but maybe we could still have a little worm tutorial at a later date anyway! just let me know whenever you're set again :)

I'm a little cautious about tearing up their habitat too often, but I'll definitely give you a shout when it gets full again — or if you don't mind starting gently (if you overfeed them, you may wind up with fruit flies or a nasty smell), I could take a corner and see what we turn up.
