1. What did you do in 2003 that you’d never done before?
Became a conference presenter, did art in public, spent a night in Hull.
2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
No resolutions for me!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Demographically boring year... but no news is good news.
5. What countries did you visit?
the U.S. (Vermont)
6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
A less complicated job situation, focus.
7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
26 July, fireworks and walk in the rain, giddy happy feeling that would later be squashed.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
The VSMM experience.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Summer stagnation.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Patello-femoral syndrome which took me off the bike for a couple of months.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
RAM
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Owen, Stuart, for grace under different types of pressure.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own, in the summer of stagnation.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent.

l. happier or sadder? Sadder but more serene.

Worked, saved, focussed.

Grant-gathered, fumed.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
In Ormstown with the folks.

Met some people worthy of it, but no.

Pretty slow year for TV

Nothing really floored me, but The Order of the Phoenix was pretty good. I’m not as much of a twelve-year-old as that makes me sound, though!

Johnny Cash.
28. What did you want and get?
Roommates as needed.
29. What did you want and not get?
Stability.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Pirates of the Caribbean

Ate home-cooked food, opened presents, etc. Beer, whisky and flamms with friends at Les Trois Brasseurs the night before.
32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A working prototype.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
Like 2002 but with Blundstones and more cargo-osity.
34. What kept you sane?
I stayed sane?
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Gwyneth Paltrow is still hot. Wesley Clark would make a good US president.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Israel-Palestine.
37. Who did you miss?
Tara. May she become less of a project and more of a presence in ‘04.

It was mostly about old-faithfuls and late ‘02ers this year, but Fiona, Sushil, Matt and Sylvain all kick ass.
39. Tell us some valuable life lessons you learned in 2003.
Maybe all that soft stuff can be approximated by cold intellectual logic.
I’m not as set in my opinions as I thought.
Proper espresso preparation at home.
