Drawing workshop, drawing again

I went back to the drawing workshop this week, this time to draw. We had a surprise model — the intended model cancelled at the last minute, so sassy_red_head stepped up to the platform, first for a quick portrait when the model was just running late, then as the model of the night when the cancellation came through.

I started with a portrait of her face. When she goes into neutral model face, she really does look intimidating.

This is the same pose, a quick gesture drawing in the closing minutes. That's a big exercise ball in front of her.

Many people in the workshop camp out on one piece of paper and put 14 poses on there. I put three gesture-ish drawings onto this page; I like the effect.

This was another fast pose that, despite incompleteness and a small amount of black on the page, turned out well.

I'm not super-happy with this one, I think I went too dark with some of the shadows, but Elizabeth liked it.

I started this one from the creases and shadows in the middle and built outward; it was satisfying to do but I would have liked this to be a longer pose so I could get all the way out!

I liked this study of her holding the exercise ball.

This one is another study-sized one of crossed legs on the edge of the platform. I don't find it particularly decipherable, but I like the feel of it.

This was a ten-minute pose that I managed to get nice and fleshed-out.

This was a fifteen-minute pose that felt like a lot of work but came together pretty well, I think. The upper contour and hand are a bit wonky, I think. There is an exercise ball under her helping her keep the pose.
