Drawing workshop, March 5
Mar. 12th, 2013 11:42 amI drew again last week; we had a fun, pretty and at times kind of ambitious model named Ayoub.

This one is two poses, but mostly that ambitious one on top, with Ayoub balancing and pressing on the stick in his hands with his feet. The bottom of the sketch is a different, cross-legged sitting pose.

I seem to draw things like this a lot in short poses. I asked Shawn what his tricks for getting whole bodies down in two minutes were; I may just need to sit near him some workshop and see what he does.

Another fragment in two minutes: this one turned out nicely and is maybe less of a frequently-drawn pattern.

This pose looks really hard; he's supported by a big exercise ball which makes it only slightly less hard.

This sketch felt pretty solid aside from the head. I like the feel of the lines.

This one is kind of interesting to look at, if a little hard to decipher. There's a box, a pillow and a torso and arm in there.

Belly creases! Rendering of bits! Probably NSFW!

Despite the iffy proportions, I really like the look of this sketch.

The shadows and creases worked out nicely here.

This was fun, switching techniques mid-drawing. It's the same pose as above, done fairly fast.

This one looks a little evocative of religious art to me — maybe it's the scruff and expression.

This is actually the same pose as above; I think the twist of his body is a lot more evident in this framing. It also feels consistent and elegant in style to me.

Elizabeth is not a fan of poses scrunched into balls. I like them a bit better, but all the stuff going on in the middle is tricky to render.
