Good news: down to two housing crises... anyone who needs a room in an apartment with quiet, nonsmoking nocturnal students, I have three places, one with me and my sister and two with my two present roomies. Fiona has found a place at the right price in the right neighbourhood with the right layout. So... if you have a nice apartment to get rid of, try montreal, but if you need a place to hang your hat, leave a comment!

Had a deep and fulfilling conversation this evening... now I’m doing stats and procrastinating and programming late into the night, but it was worth it. I feel more alive and get to go to bed resolved ... if I get to bed. But I’ll be resolved.

this is a strange question but I used to have some friends that used this word all the time and I never figured out what it meant or where it comes from... they were from New Jersey but I have no idea whether that has anything to do with it. anyway, could you tell me what the word "swooty" means? thanks and i'm actually totally serious about this--not yanking your chain

It's like nifty, but geekier. I've heard it more precisely designated as something "woot-inducing" (see definition of w00t here). "Is woot-y" ==> "swooty", I guess!

Just out of curiosity, this post is ancient -- did you google on swooty and turn this up, or have you been researching my semi-distant past for some reason? I notice through some kind of bizarre space-time bend, my post actually turns up on the first page of Google's search for "swooty"... swooty.
