Busy two days, these have been, filled with work and class and wheel-spinning and social stuff and walking.

My bike’s in the shop — rear wheel with broken spokes and out of true once too many, I’m going to start fresh there. If only the contractor for the maintenance of Sherbrooke street would pick up the repair costs... every ride there of late has been tooth-and-wheel-jarring... so I’m moving about half as fast as I like these days... whether on foot or on public transit, nothing holds a candle to the de Maisonneuve express bike trail between Vendôme and Loyola. I’ll have my mobility back next Tuesday. The shop guy told me about his zen approach to bike repair while interjecting about how he hoped I hadn’t ridden it there: “I try and run this as business as badly as I can while continuing to run it... if Wal-Mart is good, than I want to be not-good...”

Work has been more putting out fires and planning than actually getting stuff done... with a class test to prep this weekend, I’m thinking the progress indicators are going to look a little shabby this week. But hey, the disaster indices will be under control, so that’s gotta count for something.

Being bikeless has meant being on the shuttle bus, which means I have gotten in substantially more chat time with my classmates of late.

Yesterday was bracketed by two nice meals... breakfast with [livejournal.com profile] rottenfruit and supper with my family for [livejournal.com profile] loupdebois’ birthday. Eggspectations’ waffles are filling and fine value for money, and Jardin d’Asean’s food is really good, a cut above the typical noodlery fare (but also a bit pricier).

In between, there was class and a somewhat frenzied communications damage control exercise. I must be less cryptic — better a complete cipher or a one-off statement than that universal token for trouble of something in the middle.

I’m going to sleep well tonight.

Indeed... I always thought Eggspectation was really pricy, but it was not so. I need to go out for breakfast more often; you get better value for your money.
