I'm doing a project in Processing and I think it'll push me over the edge into learning Java for real.

I miss associative arrays, things-you-can-stuff-Objects-into... goodies from Flash and PHP. It's nice to work in a language that seems to be the standard at school. I'm sure I can get those goodies from java.util or someplace.

Maybe this holiday season I'll get a book and a pressing project and cram my brain.

Meanwhile, Processing isn't really bad, but it does feel a little awkward for what I'm trying to get it to do.

It'll be over soon enough!

Technically, if you want to be all dirty about it, you can use ArrayLists. If your stuff is all the same, you can use generics in Java5 and make your life even better/easier. We should sit down at one point while you start up on some project and I can brainwash you into good OO Java ;)
